Prawns Thoran

Ingredients:-

Shrimps – 500 grams, cleaned

Grated coconut – 11/2 cups

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Red chilly powder – 11/2 tsp

Greenchilly – 2 numbers

Shallots – 5 numbers + 1 cup

Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Dry red chilly – 2 numbers, split

Curry leaf – 2 sprigs

Ginger – 1 tbsp, chopped

Salt – as needed

Method:-

Grind together the grated coconut, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, greenchillies & 5 shallots coarsely.

Heat the oil & splutter the mustard seeds. Add the dry red chillies, curryleaves & the chopped ginger. When you get a nice aroma of the ginger , add 1 cup of thickly sliced shallots. Add the cleaned shrimps & stir fry for a minute/ till it becomes round.

Add the pounded coconut mixture & stir. Add 1 cup of water & 1 tsp of salt. Cover & cook for 10 minutes/ till the water almost evaporates. This dish should be semi dry.
