Cook 1 cup chickpea in your pressure cooker adding 1 tsp of salt & 2 cups of water. Simmer for 20 minutes after the first whistle.
Cook 250 grams of elephant yam seperately adding turmeric powder & salt. Drain & reserve.
Heat 2 tbsp of canola oil. Saute 1 medium onion (chopped long & thin) & 2 garlic cloves ( chopped) till the onion turns golden brown. Add 1 tsp ( heaped) coriander powder, 1/2 tsp red chilly powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala powder & a pinch of pepper powder. Saute for 1-2 minutes. Add the cooked & drained chickpea & elephant yam. Finally add 2 tbsp of chopped cilantro & remove from heat. This goes well with rotis.
