Wheat Flour Puttu

Wheat Flour Puttu is a very easy to make, healthy breakfast. I really love the wonderful aroma of wheat flour that fills ur kitchen as this Puttu is getting cooked.

For 1 heaping cup of Atta/ Chapathi Flour,

Add 1 heaping tsp of sugar & 1/2 tsp of salt to 1/4 cup of water & mix; bring to a boil & switch off heat. Add the wheat flour & mix well with a wooden spoon. (Tip:- We are wetting the flour using the boiling water to make the Puttu more soft & this also reduces the lumps formed).

Transfer the wetted flour to your mixer & pulse to ensure uniform distribution of moisture. Transfer the powdered flour to a wide vessel like uruli & sprinkle around 1/8 -1/4 cup of water over the flour & gently mix to make small lumps ( This Puttu tastes great only when it has small lumps in it). Finally add 1/2 cup of grated coconut & mix. Your flour is now ready for steaming.

Cook for 7 minutes after you see the steam coming out of the Puttu maker. I love to have this Puttu with sugar.
