Dates and walnut Brownies


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Sift together 3/4 cup of plain flour, 1/4 cup of unsweetened  cocoa powder, a pinch of salt & 1 tsp of baking powder.
  3. Beat together 100 grams of softened butter with 1/2 cup of caster sugar & 1/2 cup of brown sugar till creamy & fluffy.
  4. Beat in 3 eggs, one by one & beat well after each addition.
  5. Beat in 1 tsp of vanilla essence.
  6. Fold in the sifted dry ingredients alternated with 1/2 cup of milk.
  7. Finally fold in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts & 1/2 cup of chopped dates.
  8. Transfer the brownie batter into a 9″ square pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven at 180C for 30 minutes. Let the brownie cool down completely to room temperature before you do the frosting.
  10. For the frosting, heat 1/2 cup of thick cream & pour it over 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Wait for 5 minutes & mix well. Add 1/2 tsp of vanilla essence & 1 tbsp of butter.
  11. Pour the frosting over the brownies.
  12. Cut the brownie into square pieces.
