Malted chocolate chip cookies



  1. All purpose flour – 11/4 cup
  2. Malt powder ( Malteser / Horlicks chocolate flavour/Ovaltine) – 1/4 cup
  3. Baking soda – 1/2 tsp.
  4. Salt – 1/4 tsp.
  5. Butter – 75 grams, softened
  6. Brown sugar – 1/2 cup + 2 tbsps, packed
  7. Egg – half of a small egg
  8. Vanilla essence – 1/2 tsp.
  9. Dark chocolate – 1/4 cup, grated
  10. Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 1/2 cup


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Sift together the plain flour, salt & baking soda. Set aside.
  3. Beat together the butter and brown sugar till creamy & light. Beat in the malt powder, egg & essence.
  4. Fold in the sifted flour mixture .
  5. Add the chocolate chips & grated dark chocolate. Fold in.
  6. Shape level icecream scoopful of the cookie dough  into balls & flatten them slightly.
  7. Place them on a baking tray lined with foil. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 180C for 15-17 minutes.
