Layered Butter and cheesy chocolate chip cake

Ingredients:-

For the butter cake layer:-

  1. Butter – 100 grams (softened)
  2. Caster sugar – 1 cup
  3. Eggs – 2 numbers, medium
  4. Vanilla essence – 1 tsp.
  5. Plain flour – 1 cup
  6. Baking powder – 1 tsp.
  7. Salt – a pinch
  8. Hung curd – 3 tbsps.

For the cheesy chocolate chip layer :-

  1. Cream cheese (I used Philadelphia cheese spread) – 1/2 cup
  2. Butter – 70 grams, softened
  3. Icing sugar – 1 cup
  4. Vanilla essence – 1/2 tsp.
  5. Egg – 1 medium
  6. Dark mini chocolate chips – 3/4 cup tossed in 1 tsp. of plain flour

Method:-

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Prepare a 8″ square tin.
  3. Sift together the plain flour, salt & baking powder.
  4. Beat together the butter & caster sugar till creamy for about 10 minutes. Beat in the 2 eggs one by one & beat well after each addition.
  5. Beat in the vanilla essence.
  6. Fold in the sifted flour mixture alternated with the hung curd.
  7. Pour the butter cake batter into the preapared cake tin.
  8. Prepare the cream cheese mixture by beating together the cream cheese, butter, icing sugar, egg and vanilla essence till smooth and creamy. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  9. Pour this cream cheese-chocolate chip mixture over the butter cake batter.
  10. Bake at 180C for 45 minutes.
  11. Serve chilled.
