Orange Tea Cake



  1. Plain flour – 1.5 cups
  2. Baking powder – 3/4 tsp.
  3. Salt – a pinch
  4. Butter – 150 grams, softened
  5. Powdered sugar – 1 cup
  6. Eggs – 3 numbers, medium or 150 grams
  7. Vanilla essence – 1 tsp.
  8. Orange crush – 1 tbsp.
  9. Orange zest – of one medium orange
  10. Freshly squeezed orange juice – 1/2 cup


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Sift together the plain flour, salt & baking powder.
  3. Beat together the butter & powdered sugar till creamy for about 10 minutes.
  4. Beat in the 3 eggs one by one & beat well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla essence, orange crush and orange zest.
  5. Fold in the sifted flour mixture alternated with the orange juice.
  6. Pour the batter into a  prepared cake tin. Bake at 180C for 30-35 minutes
  7. Let this cake cool down completely to room temperature before serving.
