Urad dal-Wheat flour puri



  1. Urad dal – 1/2 cup
  2. Wheat flour – 1.5 cup
  3. Semolina – 1 heaping tbsp.
  4. Salt – 11/4- 11/2 tsp.
  5. Oil to deep fry


  1. Wash the urad dal well and soak it in water for 3-4 hours. Drain out all the water from the dal & grind it to a very smooth paste.
  2. Mix together the wheat flour, urad dal paste, salt & semolina.Don’t add any water at all. The dough should be a bit stiff.
  3. Knead well for 5 minutes & keep covered for 15 minutes.
  4. Make puris as usual. These puris will puff up really well.
