Creamy chicken roll ups


For the creamy chicken mixture

  1. Chicken – 250 grams; cut into small cubes
  2. Salt – 3/4 tsp. or to taste
  3. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp.
  4. Greenchilly paste – 1 tbsp.
  5. Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
  6. Thick curd – 2 tbsps.
  7. Thick cream – 2 tbsps.
  8. Onion – 1/2 cup; thinly sliced
  9. Green capsicum – 1/2 of a medium; chopped
  10. Red chilli flakes – 1/2 tsp.
  11. Oil – 2 tbsps.

For the garlic mayo:-

  1. Mayonnaise – 1/4 cup
  2. Thick cream – 2 tbsps.
  3. Garlic – 1 big clove; grated
  4. Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp.
  5. Salt to taste

For the bread:-

  1. Wheat flour – 2 cups
  2. Salt – 1 tsp.
  3. Ghee – 1 tbsp.
  4. Water – 1 cup or as needed
  5. Oil for shallow frying

For assembling:-

  1. Lettuce leaves (immersed in ice water)- as needed
  2. Cucumber slices – as needed


For the cream chicken mixture:-

  1. Marinate the chicken cubes with cream, curd, salt, pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste and greenchilly paste for 1 hour.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp. of oil in a pan & add the marinated chicken cubes along with the marinade. Fry for a minute on medium heat and cover cook for 15 minutes on low heat. Open the lid and cook till the chicken mixture is dry. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
  3. To the same pan, add 1 more tbsp. of oil. Stir in the sliced onions, chopped capsicum, salt ( a pinch) and the red chilli flakes. Cook till the onions turn translucent. Add the cooked chicken and mix. This is the filling for the roll ups. Keep aside.

For the bread:-

  1. Mix the wheat flour, salt and ghee together. Add enough water and knead to a slightly stiff dough.
  2. Cover the dough and keep aside for 1 hour.

For the garlic mayo:-

Mix the mayonnaise, cream, salt, pepper powder and garlic. Keep aside.

For the roll ups:-

  1. Divide the dough into 6 or 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into ball.
  2. Roll each ball into a thin circle. Heat oil for shallow frying the bread. Carefully place one rolled out dough circle into the hot oil & press it carefully with a spoon. Fry both sides of the bread and transfer it to a paper towel. Repeat with the other dough portions.
  3. To make the roll, place a fried bread on a clean work surface. Spread the chicken mixture in a row and drizzle the garlic mayo sauce over the chicken. Place a few lettuce leaves and cucumber slices and roll it tightly. Repeat to make 5 or 7 more wraps.
  4. Serve piping hot.
