Sweet and spicy wheat chips

  1. Atta/ Wheat flour – 1 cup
  2. All purpose flour – 3/4 cup
  3. Salt – 3/4 to 1  tsp.
  4. Sugar – 2 tsps.
  5. Hing – 1/4 tsp.
  6. Butter – 2 tsps.
  7. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp.
  8. Kashmiri chilly powder – 1.5 heaping tsps.
  9. Water for kneading
  10. Oil for deep frying

  1. Mix together the flours, salt, sugar, hing, cumin seeds, chilly powder and butter and mix till the flour resembles coarse bread crumbs. Add enough water to make a soft dough. Divide this dough into 4 equal parts. Dust each ball with flour from both sides & roll out as thin as possible with your rolling pin. Run a sharp knife or a pizza cutter diagonally to produce diamond shapes.
  2. Heat the oil. When it becomes medium hot fry the diamond cuts.  Fry till they turn golden brown in colour & crisp on a medium low heat. Drain on paper towels & let cool.
  3.  Store in an airtight container.
