Fruit and nut double chocolate cookies



  1. Plain flour – 1.25 cup
  2. Unsweetened cocoa powder – 2.5 level tbsps.
  3. Baking powder– 1 tsp.
  4. Salt – a pinch
  5. Dark chocolate chunks – 1 cup
  6. Chocolate chips – 1/2 cup
  7. Black currants – 2 tbsps; chopped
  8. Walnuts – 2 tbsps.; coarsely chopped
  9. Butter – 150 grams
  10. Castor sugar – 2/3 cup
  11. Egg – 1 number; medium
  12. Vanilla/ chocolate essence – 1/2 tsp.


  1. Preheat the oven to 190C.
  2. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Add the chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, chopped currants and chopped walnuts and mix.
  3. Beat together the butter and sugar till creamy and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and essence. Fold in the dry ingredients mixture.
  5. Refrigerate the cookie dough for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 190C.
  7. Drop level ice cream scoopful of the dough on to a cookie tray lined with foil.
  8. Bake in the oven at 190C for 15 minutes.
  9. Let cool completely before serving.
