Peanut butter chocolate chip bread (Oil/Butter less)



  1. Plain flour – 1.5 cup
  2. Baking powder– 2.5 tsps.
  3. Salt – a pinch
  4. Chocolate chips – 3/4 cup + 1/4 cup for sprinkling
  5. Peanut butter – 1 cup
  6. Brown sugar – 1/2 cup; packed
  7. Granulated white sugar – 1/2 cup
  8. Egg – 2 numbers; large
  9. Vanilla essence – 1 tsp.
  10. Buttermilk – 1 cup ( or 1 tbsp. vinegar mixed with 1 cup of milk and kept aside for 5 minutes)


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add 3/4 cup of chocolate chips  and mix.
  3. Beat together the peanut butter and sugars till creamy and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one by one and the essence.
  5. Fold in the dry ingredients mixture alternated with the buttermilk..
  6. Pour the batter into a loaf tin lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake in the oven at 180C for 45 minutes and at 160C for 15 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely before serving.
